Lee Netzel
Born and reared in a small town in the north woods of Wisconsin, Lee Netzel grew up with a love of animals and a love of drawing and painting.  Upon moving to California in her teens, she discovered the wonders of the deserts, the mountains and the western life, which, along with the animals are reflected in her art work.  She took art classes in junior college, and over the years had several watercolor instructors, but is otherwise self-taught. Lee has lived in Carson City since 1975.  Previous to that time she lived in Bishop, Ca where she co-owned an arts and crafts supply store.

Lee paints in the mediums of pastel, watercolor, and acrylic with predominant subjects being animals and western themes. She enjoys the unique qualities of each medium, but favors pastels, which lends itself so well to the shaggy hair of a burro or the sleek shine of an Arabian stallion. Acrylic and watercolor seem to be a better fit for scenic subjects.  Her paintings have been show in galleries in California, Nevada, and Utah.  She has shown and won awards in such shows as the 49ers Encampment Art Show and the  Nevada Artists Association Nevada Day Art Show. Lee taught children’s art classes and pastel classes at Austin Arts in Carson City for 20 years, and currently has classes at the Brewery Arts Center Gallery in Carson City. Her work is represented at East Fork Gallery inGardnerville, NV.
