Janice Powell Shedd
Watercolor artist
Drawing and painting have always played an important part in Janice’s life. Reared in Elko and surrounded by the basin and range topography of Northern Nevada, she was captivated by the beauty of the mountains, desert, skies, fields, and aspen meadows.
An Art Education graduate of Idaho State University, Janice taught in public and private schools and currently instructs for the Nevada college system. She has also taught private lessons, and for Yosemite National Park’s Art and Education Center.
Although Janice has worked in many different art mediums (drawing, pottery, stained glass, mosaic, batik, printmaking and oil painting), her greatest enjoyment and accomplishment is found in her watercolors. She expresses her appreciation for the subtle beauty of the Nevada landscape in her watercolor paintings.Her work is in private collections throughout the United States and abroad. Her paintings have hung in several galleries and museum exhibits and have been displayed during several Nevada legislative sessions.
